Why Activated Charcoal Should be Your New “It” Beauty Buy
Rise and shine peeps!
Hope your day is going great and the springy winds of Lahore are alluring you as much as they are enchanting me. So, a friend of mine has been obsessed with activated charcoal lately and every time she discovers a new use of this magical boon, she gets more fascinated. Those of you who don’t know what activated charcoal is, you need to Google it right now (just kidding, I’m gonna explain it right now). Activated charcoal, if we were to put it scientifically, “is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions.”
To make it simple, it is a form of charcoal that usually comes in powdered form and has amazing detoxing properties. For centuries, it has been part of medicine and ancient methods of cure but lately it has been a rage all over the world. Beauty experts, bloggers, health conscious people, EVERYONE, can’t seem to get enough of it and rightly so. This wonder is worth all the rage. Without wasting a sec, let’s discover some of the fantastic uses of activated charcoal.
Who doesn’t like a beautiful smile that makes you shine even brighter? If your teeth have been stained due to smoking, tea, coffee or anything, then activated charcoal is your new teeth whitener. It not only whitens the teeth but also promotes good oral health. It fixes the pH balance and absorbs all the bad stuff and plague and its regular use leaves you with a pearly white smile. The use? Well, you can just use it like a normal tooth paste like you regularly brush your teeth. After brushing, swish with normal water and rinse till the spit becomes clear. Use it twice or thrice a week and you will be amazed with the results.
Among other applications of activated charcoal, it makes a great face masks to free it from all the dust, excessive oil and toxins. It unclogs all the pores, cleanse them and clears the acne that has been plaguing your beauty. Because of its toxin-absorbing and detoxing properties, it makes an ultimate beauty ingredient for the skin.
Now, there are multiple opinions when it comes to using activated charcoal (water, milk, honey, kid’s glue, there are a lot of things that are used to make activated charcoal mask) but there is a great one to get stated with. All you need would be activated charcoal powder, plain or rose water and aloe vera gel in equal portions. Mix them together to work in a gel and then apply it on your face (leaving a socket-like space around the eyes) and let it dry. After it dries up, rinse it with lukewarm water and watch your skin become clear, radiant and healthy within a few uses.
Bonus beauty tip: Use it as an eyeliner if you are into rocking a matte, dark eyeliner. Wet your eyeliner brush with water and dip it in activated charcoal powder. Use the back of your hand to make a uniform paste and voila! You’re set for a lasting, black swipe of the eyeliner.
A Great Healer
Besides its wide uses in beauty, medicine and health, activated charcoal is a great healer and soothes itches, skin irritations, insect bites and cuts. Due to its chemical-absorbing properties, it relieves the affected area from stings, insect bites, irritations and cuts. It can lessen the pain and swelling when applied as a paste. The paste can be made into a paste by mixing it with water for a uniform consistency.
Yup. Activated charcoal is capable of freeing your hair from all the product residue, gunk, dandruff and stuff just like the way it does for your skin. It can be mixed with your normal shampoo to be applied onto the scalp and hair. Rinse with normal water and watch your hair go light, voluminous and beautiful in a few washes.
I could go on and on with this as the list of its benefits and uses won’t end any soon but I will stop here. You can find activated charcoal at a good makeup store but prefer a Korea based brand as the country rolls out some of the best skin care products. Don’t forget to hit me up with your reviews after you benefit from this wonderful thing! Take care, stay at your best! Until next time.
