Five Simple Ways to Go Green

Rise & shine beauties!
A very happy belated Independence Day to you all! I am sure you celebrated it in full spirit and resolved to be good to this country. Since it’s the independence month and the hues of green all around us, I thought of doing a post on how to go green in our daily lives. Yes, I am talking about those simple ways and habits that can help us do better. Curious much? Let’s dig them one by one.

Plant Green

Perhaps the simplest way to play your part to keep this planet green is to grow a plant. It could be your favorite flower, a delicious fruit or a healthy veggie. Give it all it needs; your love, attention and care. Watch it grow and you’ll feel the therapeutic effects on your mind and body. If you’re too busy in your 9 to 5 schedule, keep a small pot at your workstation. Name it and make it your friend. Trust me, it will be a breath of fresh air when all your senses will be exhausted. You’ll heal just by looking at it. Any doubts? Try it yourself and thank me later.

Eat Green

All the greens you see at the grocery store (and perhaps despise) are actually your body’s best friends. Green foods are one of those things that are capable of making your body healthier, better and fitter. Whether your skin lacks hydration or you are looking for a remedial cure, greens got your back. Cucumber, Lettuce, Kale, Beans, Zucchini, Spinach, Broccoli, Aloe Vera – all these babies are some kickass nutritional units. Green fruits, on the other hand, are full of vitamins and antioxidants that not only taste out of this world but also pack some real nutrition. In case you need a head-start, think about all the goodness (and joy) that munching on Kiwis, Grapes, Green Apples, Pears, Watermelon and Avocados will bring you (Mmm, I am salivating!). So, what are you waiting for – an official approval? Go and get yourself a kick of green.

Wear Green

Talk about fashion and style and Green is a winner there. If you need a recall then let me help you with some of the fashion inspirations where green fits just right. A festive evening? A bottle green gown (for femme) or an olive green vest coat (for homme) will speak volumes if you’re planning to pull off a royal look. Emerald green crystals are the ultimate luxury when it comes to fine jewelry pieces. A touch of shimmery grass green has been The Thing at the international runways so you can well imagine its broad and quirky applications in makeup.

Live Green

From opting energy savers to applying low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paint to your walls, there are thousands of effective and cheaper ways to make your living space more environment-friendly. Need the cleaning done? Use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins. Give more preference to products and brands that claim to be eco-friendly. Got used boxes and jars? Recycle them by making crafts and handmade stuff; all the cool kids are doing that these days. Make a conscious effort for a smarter way of living so that you leave lesser footprint on this planet. Maybe this all sounds too preachy but you can start small. Look for the loopholes and areas of improvement in your hood; I am sure you’ll be able to fix them!

Go Green

Last but most importantly, let’s not forget the motive of our forefathers who strived for a separate homeland and sacrificed their everything to make our future generations an independent nation. The motive is simple. Respect everyone’s freedom. Foster patience. Live and let live. In the midst of hatred, preach love and acceptance; our country needs more of that, the world needs more of that. Free your mind of all the judgments and boundaries and embrace with an open heart. Peace out!

That’s all folks! Let’s keep the spirit of freedom rolling the whole year round. Let me know which ideas you found most feasible and which ones are a bit troublesome according to you. It’s always a pleasure reading your views and knowing your opinion. If you have any suggestion or query, feel free to buzz me; you know where I’ll be! Until next time.

Love, Redah.
