Wins and Fails at Cannes Film Festival 2016
Like many other events that follow such as the Golden Globes, the Academies, or the Emmy’s – Cannes Film Festival has been one of the most prestigious events to be a part of for many years. Not only does it boast a wonderfully star studded red carpet, but some of the best blockbusters come from said festival itself with mega hits such as Drive, Mud and my personal favorite Moonrise Kingdom. All in all when the Cannes Film Festival rolls around, you know for a fact that the glitterati will all be at their best and in their best on the red carpet as they walk what is now known as one of highest honors in the fashion/film/music industry altogether. So much like the years that have come before this one, we saw some epic hits and some epic fails for 2016 on the red carpet. Here’s my run down of some of the best and some of the worst looks of the aforementioned:
I’m sure you’re not surprised with Aish landing on #1 here on my list, in no way by the way does this mean I think her look was an epic hit. If anything her purple lipstick was a big fat miss and well we all heard LOTS about it on the internet for many days after. So although that day was a complete miss for her, the 3rd day of Cannes saw Aish at her best. With her third appearance at Cannes Aishwarya chose an embellished pink-gold Elie Saab gown which she paired with gold jewelery, Ferragamo shoes and a bold Pure Brick lip from the L’Oréal Paris Pure Reds collection – with her hair done classic Hollywood style, she was definitely channeling some old Hollywood/Bollywood vibes!
Let’s talk about another Bollywood diva, one who I feel has really learnt how to groom herself and climb the fashionista ladder quite quick. Sonam Kapoor has got style and she has no qualms about showing it. Her Instagram is full of her well thought out, put together and carried outfits with accessories that add flavor to the mix. My favorite look for her was her powder blue Ralph and Russo which her sister Rhea Kapoor, very smartly paired with those gorgeous chunky “jhumkaas” adding just the right touch of tradition to a ball gown. With an unkempt bun and a naturally flawless make up look, I thought this red carpet look was definitely a win!
Personally I am a huge fan, she is gorgeous, she is fit, she is aging gracefully, she’s a lawyer, an independent woman AND she is married to THE man George Clooney himself. For Cannes she looked stunning as usual in her dull yellow Atelier Versace. The gownn accentuated her features perfectly and I really enjoyed the pop of colors with her red lips and red earrings too! Not to mention how absolutely stunning she looks standing next to her man!
For someone who’s expecting her second child, Blake Lively is a sight for sore eyes. She is gorgeous, she is fit and her stylist is a maestro! Even though it is safe to say that this Hollywood starlet literally won over Cannes with every single look being on point, my personal favorite would have to be her bronze spaghetti strap Atelier Versace dress! Sequined to perfection, Blake chose to let her tresses flow naturally with a no muss, no fuss hair down look and just the right shade of an ash pink lip color to go with her dress perfectly.
Here were my top 4 favs from the red carpet at Cannes film fest! Let me know what you think in the comments section below and remember, got something you need me to blog about? Drop me a link on Facebook and I’ll be sure to put it on my to-do list! Till next week, have a fab one.
