How To Boost Your Metabolism
Amidst me trying to lose some baby weight and thinking healthy, I want to encourage all of you out there to get healthy too. Like I mentioned last week, obesity is a fast growing epidemic and plagues all women every where in the world, when all we want to do is just look good and be able to eat good too. I get a lot of queries on my Facebook page with you wonderful ladies asking for tips to lose weight, diets that help you lose weight, what can you do and what not you can do to well, shed those crazy extra pounds. To begin with I’d like to say, no matter what you look like or how much you weigh, learn to love yourself. Once you learn to love yourself, you will learn to work towards making changes in your life.
Another important thing that a lot of women do wrong is to lose weight simply to look good. That should never be your main motivator, your main motivator should be to keep and stay healthy. Getting healthy should fuel your fire to lose weight, not looking good. People who set out to make their lifestyles better and to lose weight to get healthy usually are more prone to success than people who simply do it to look good. So before you read any further, or decide to embark on your weight loss journey, first talk to yourself and ask yourself this:
1. Why do I want to lose weight?
2. What will keep me motivated?
The answers should be simple and should have nothing to do with your looks. Some other helpful things you can do on your journey is to keep a food journal, though it seems tedious it really helps to write down everything you eat in order to keep a good track on how much calories you are consuming on a daily basis. This will also help you establish what was a good day and which was a bad day – food wise. So the first step to losing weight is getting your metabolism in order, unfortunately today our lifestyles have grown so static our metabolism has literally almost shut down, a slow metabolism, also slows down your weight loss & well discourages a lot of women trying to lose weight so here are some ways you can keep your metabolism going.
Never skip breakfast
You know when they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it definitely is. Never skimp out on breakfast. When you skin this meal your body automatically goes into starvation mode and thinks you aren’t feeding it anything so your metabolism slows down and prevents you from losing fat. Whether you’re hungry or not, eat something, drink tea, a milkshake, a protein bar, granola, half a bowl of cereal – anything that floats your boat. If you add proteins it’ll help boost your metabollism more!
Cut down on refined Grains
Breads, pastas, cookies and cakes all which contain refined grains are really bad for you. They over secrete Insulin and I am sure anyone who has heard of or been around Diabetes knows the importance of insulin. When you continue to eat refined grains not only does it add weight and prevent weight loss, it also leaves you more prone to the disease itself.
Green, Green, Green
Anybody and everybody who has ever tried to lose weight knows that the more green you eat the better it is for you. Instead of a ton carbohydrate and processed foods, go for the salad on your lunch break or pick up a fruit basket instead. Instead of your regular tea in the morning – go for a green tea instead, filled with antioxidants green tea has aided weight loss since forever! (Hypothetically) Green tea is great for boosting your metabolism!
6 Meals a day
If you’ve been to a dietician they have already told you this. Instead of 3 big meals a day, shift to 6 smaller meals. Breakfast – Snack – Lunch – Snack – Dinner. Never eat post dinner or too close to sleeping, this is the worst thing you can do to yourself. And for dinner it is suggested to eat whatever you want within an hour, even if you are having dessert just remember to watch your portions. For the snacks in between you can pick fruits, nuts, crackers, or any low fat snack alternate you can find, if you add green tea to the mix, that would be perfect.
Last but not least girls, exercise, exercise, exercise – no one ever lost weight sitting tight on their behind. You have to get yourself going into an active lifestyle if you want to lose weight and manage the lost weight. Also, going to the gym really helps with stress and nerves, even taking a late evening leisurely walk is SO good for your stress levels. I know when I’m in a bad mood I simply hit the gym & out goes all my negativity. Hope this blog serves you well with your journey towards weightloss, until next time have a good one!
